Anatomy of a Composition - Mt. Blue Sky
Some creations are on the ground, some under the stars, and others can be in the air. I returned to a drone after a year away and am finding it to be a welcome bit of creativity, again. Initially I was looking to use it for just photography from a new vantage point and incorporating the time-lapse feature, but I’m find that it is incredibly fun to just fly and take in the footage that it produces.
The learning curve for not only editing the footage, but adding color back into the frames has been a good bit of mental gymnastics, adding to a skill set that I wasn’t ever sure I’d get the chance to practice. The scenery in and around the highway is never dull, and this particular evening with the longer shadows, the height of the trees and the depths of the valleys were accentuated that much more.
While getting ready to head home, the colors started to change creating a beautiful sunset images of the Continental Divide, but the drone was already stowed away and the long, telephoto lens was the easiest way to capture the magenta hues that flashed across the sky. The footage here represents my longest video yet, as just over 12 minutes, it’s an investment of time.
As always, thank you for the continued support and for following along on this journey!
