A bright and beautiful blue afternoon in the Wet Mountain Valley, with winter snow dressing the Sangre de Cristo peaks, afforded the perfect opportunity to slow down, set up the tripod, and capture the multiple images necessary for a set of grand panoramas. The evening gave way to high, fast moving cirrus clouds, and the ragged old fence line balanced perfectly with the South Colony peaks. The finishing touch was the finally rays of the sun of the day.

Our lives aren’t stories of fiction. Our lives are much less punctuated and scripted. Our lives unfold in such a way that we don’t often have the chance to “brace” ourselves, or to gather our courage.
I couldn’t for the life of me figure out a composition. I so wanted to capture the motion and the scale, something I felt I could only do if I was closer, and something I felt a time lapse would only really convey in that moment.
