Anatomy of a Composition - Fenced, and Wild

What does the West mean? As a child of the 70’s it was westerns intertwined with surreal images of snow. I can recall Olympian skier Billy the Kid commentating on Saturday afternoon television, spliced with footage of him attacking mountains made entirely of champagne powder.

Certainly elements of this duality drew me west - Remington’s inconceivable skies, Bierstadt’s improbable light. And Ansel - whether the eponymous views of Yosemite or the more intimate views near his friend Georgia’s New Mexico home. How could we not be inspired by this visual banquet.

To the reasons why we found ourselves here - to all the beauty in the West, I can’t be any more grateful.

January, 2021 - As always, thank you for the support and thank you for joining me on this journey.
