Anatomy of a Composition - Wyoming Sky

While not nearly has high as the Continental Divide in Colorado, the part of the Divide that flows over the Snowy Range Scenic Highway is every bit of that - scenic. Along with a few other words like majestic, wild and serene, it is most of all beautifully quiet. After the hectic ness of Denver life specifically and Colorado in general, it is nice to occasionally escape the traffic and crowds and return to a place that feels like the woods of Northern Michigan that I grew up in.

It has been a couple of years since my last trip here, 2018 to be exact. That year it was a couple of motorcycle rides over and through, and one good photography outing, but nothing in 2019, and then the pandemic cancelled a long weekend there with Andrew and Adi. With the Milky Way now vertical and visible in the southern sky, this alignment with the different lakes in the Medicine Bow National Forest makes for beautiful photographs like this.

It’s funny how astrophotography has crept into my portfolio and skill set. It weds so many things that I enjoy all at once; night sky, dark places, sense of being alone and the camera - hopefully I never misplace this sense of wonder.

September, 2021 - As always, thank you for the support and for joining me on this adventure.
