Anatomy of a Composition - Finding Fall (Buffalo Pass)

It’s hard to believe that we’re halfway through October already. The fall colors have just about faded, but while they were here they were some of the most brilliant and vibrant to put on a display in the past few years.

This trip up to Steamboat Springs was a welcome opportunity, having visited Steamboat mainly in winter and summer months. I knew the potential for compositions of Golden and Maroon Aspens existed, but when I came across this small grove of curved trees I was completely surprised! Having an ultra-wide lens available made all the difference trying to frame this beautiful tree - I only need to wait for winter to capture it draped in snow.

Just as a reminder, this year’s calendar is now available and are shipping! It features a collection of shots taken each month from around Colorado to share the unique beauty of the state throughout the entire year. You can preview a Web Gallery for all of the images inside this year’s calendar.

October, 2021 - As always, thank you for the support and for joining me on this adventure.
