Anatomy of a Composition - April Awakens

Winter is an interesting season and phenomena, especially in the mountains of Colorado. While the landscape vacillates between frozen crust with plummeting nighttime temperatures and daytime sunlight, which is already thawing the snow pack, turns trails and roads into a muddy mess while reminding plants and animals that it is time wake up and reenter their life cycles.

Elk and Antelope move from the lower elevations to the higher ones, Moose retreat to denser wetlands and Bears begin to wander around mountain homes and towns looking for a way to quickly add calories missing from their hibernation. Even thought the day to day weather can be highly unpredictable, spring means a return of the Milky Way so any trip to the mountains will likely include an overnight adventure to take in this celestial passage.

A sunrise panorama over South Park and the Galactic Core over a ranchers shed make up elements of a recent weekends adventures, watching the erratic seasonal changes and the night sky, and thinking about summer’s coming adventures as the school year winds down.

April, 2022 - As always, thank you for the support and for joining me on this adventure.
