Anatomy of a Composition - Court House Color

Colorado’s summer weather pattern seems to be influx once again this coming week. June began with rain and cooler temperatures, but this quickly turned extreme heat, with multiple 90 degree and even a few 100 degree days. So far summer has been productive with one major rental property project completed, another one stands waiting to start, a second round of teacher training is finished up in preparation for the 2021-2022 school year, and a quick trip to the San Juans was taken in to find the early season Lupine and get back on track for wildflower photography.

This image was captured on a Saturday evening, after a day of blue-bird skies.  We were really surprised to find the color appear, though the wildfires to the west probably contributed something to the purple haze and glow. Shot from Dallas Divide, looking east over the town of Ridgway, the Lake City mountains of Wetterhorn and Uncompahgre, as well as Courthouse Rock stand out as the prominent features. The low, green plateau in the immediate foreground leads back to Mt. Sneffels, the most photogenic, and prominent feature in this mountain range.

Even though it was only three nights, the Lupines were absolutely breathtaking, and I learned a lesson about just how early they bloom. I will definitely head south in June next season to capture them as they emerge.

For now, I was able to put up more images at Banded Oak Brewing, in downtown Denver.  Banded Oak is one of Denver’s finest micro-breweries. They have won Gold at the Great American Beer Festival and are most known for their barrel-age technique.  They have renovated the brewing area to accommodate more seating, and the amble wall space offers great natural light for viewing the different pieces of art. The tap-house is open 7-days a week, and is located at: 470 North Broadway, Denver CO

Follow the Banded Oak Web-Gallery link to view the work that is on display, and even though this image is not hanging at the gallery, I would be happy to create a custom, 40x60 panorama for you.

A total of 13 images were used to create the panorama - images were shot in a single row from left to right. Final image size is close to 85MB. Edits and stitching were made both in Photoshop and Lightroom.

June, 2021 - As always, thank you for the support and for joining me on this adventure.
