halcyon

There aren’t many places that can conjure the definition of “halcyon” like this little harborage in Northern Michigan. Whether a sleepless summer night, listening to waves lapping against a hull, running past it through a congested main street with my closest confederates, or wishing to make it in off of a storming and unforgiving great lake, a little harborage such as Round Lake brought peace to the weary, and companionship to all.

I’ve grown into an adult a long way away from this little body of water, but will always with great humility call it “home.” Truly a calm port, truly a place to call home - halcyon.
