Untethered - There is something about being disconnected.  Ties are severed, attachments thrown off, bonds broken; each action a painful and slow deliberation, a declaration that something has to change, even if that change seems unbearable.  It is freeing, but also disorienting. Clinging to what once we belong, tears our last shred of self respect even while it opens a whole new world of possibilities. This lonesome post, surrounded by five feet of snow, was accessible only by crawling on my stomach the final 15 feet.  The bare top stood as the perfect compliment to the 11,000 foot Hahn’s Peak.

Cold.  That’s what I remember the most of this day in January, 2017. The cold, and the fog.  Almost too cold to go outside, but knowing that something compelling would come because of the light.  That late afternoon light cast perfect shadows, while the wind whipped the snow into sirus-like snow plums.
