Anatomy of a Composition - Lookout Mountain Sunrise (Time Lapse)
November has been impressive with its sunrises and sunsets, as if they are competing with each other for a more radiant exhibition. It’s also a good feeling to get to this point in the school year and to look at the progress of our students, this year being another challenging one as our students navigate their lives as well as our current reality.
It has been good to take advantage a few days off over the break to enjoy the mornings at one of my favorite designations. Its also good to get back to more panoramas and time lapse compositions, forcing my to slow down while appreciating the changing light and shifting sky. Creating a time lapse like this is a different experience, a way to truly examine a scene and deconstruct its visual appeal. This was the final one for the break, and it feels the most complete. It took a little over 30 minutes during the sunrise to gather all the images. 720 in total are needed for a 30 second clip, the are then edited in Lightroom and rendered in Photoshop. Shot using a Sony a7riii and Sony FE20G, using aperture priority with auto ISO (100-1600, at F/11.
