Anatomy of a Composition - Cirque

Mt Evans is the most prominent 14’er just west of downtown Denver. And like most peaks, the compositions that focus not he summit are the most compelling. But capturing the entire scene with a dramatic sky isn’t always possible or convenient, as the entire mountain is nearly 15 miles across at its greatest extent. So getting up close and concentrating on some more intimate scenes, especially with the storm building on the shoulders.

This was a good break in the middle of the week. One of the benefits of the longer days as we head into the summer months is getting to watch the clouds build and the light getting longer in the afternoon. Finding this composition on the shoulder of Mt. Evans offered an easy to appreciate detail of the snow blowing over the cirque with the storm clouds building overhead.

Don’t forget, work will be hanging up at Bruz Beers throughout the month! Their address is 1675 W 67th Ave #100, Denver, CO 80221. Bruz offers a large, open gallery space with fantastic lighting, and great seating both in and out of doors. Bruz has food on-site and partners with food trucks on a daily basis so you’re sure find something that satisfies.

May, 2021 - As always, thank you for joining me on this adventure.
