Anatomy of a Composition - 2022 A Landscape Year

I can never get over the passage of time, especially as a moody morning or afternoon storm rolls over the Great Plains or the highest part of the Rocky Mountains.

Colorado's landscape is endlessly beautiful - capturing the movement of weather and the changing of day and night adds such depth and intimacy to the scenes; they are truly inspiring. Much of the beginning of the year revolved around sunrises and sunsets overlooking the metro area, and as the year progressed the Front Range gave way to the Mosquito and Sangre de Cristo Ranges, with summer adding the Gore, Collegiate and West Elks. Summer also provided scenes of sunflowers from DIA and the Gates of Ladore on the Green River. Fall included repeat trips to many of these locations while adding time in the Elk Mountains, the Grand Mesa and segments of the Colorado Trail. The new year is now on us, and the winter landscape promises to offer more incredible settings and scenes.

All footage is captured in RAW, using four different Sony lenses, the FE/14GM, the FE/20G, the Sony FE/24GM, as well as the FE/35GM, nearly exclusively on the Sony a7siii along with the Sony a7iii. EXIF data was all over the board with ISO 100-3200, F1.4-2.8 and shutter speed ranging from 1/6 to 2 seconds. All edits completed in Lightroom, clips compiled using PhotoShop with final corrections, grading and editing in Premiere Pro.
